Elizabeth Cowan takes witty, funny and off-beat looks at everyday life. Ms. Cowan's writing is a unique blend of Dave Barry's humor, Peter Mayle's (A Year in Provence) insights into people and her life in the horse country of Texas. I look forward to her columns, knowing it will always bring me smiles and some laughs.

My husband and I are exceedingly pleased The Norman Transcript carries your column on Sundays. You are a delightful writer! I hope you feel complimented that we compare you favorably to the late Erma Bombeck. Her passing left a huge void. Thanks for your excellent work.

Just read you article on daylight savings time. Enjoyed! Laughed out loud about the planet wobbling off its rocker... Thanks!

I enjoyed the "Creatures of Habit" article. Your writing style and stories are very relatable. Well parts of it are. I've never gone to work in just a slip or forget my bra, (wait, I just checked and I'm not even wearing a bra) but I do have the autopilot feature installed on my car. It is weird to get to a place and not remember the trip. (For the sake of clarification this reader is a male.)

I thought the wedding column was great!

Great stuff, Elizabeth!

The trip to Hungary article is good.

Re: Less than perfect: I can't believe you left your Priest at the church and he had to walk to the reception that is too funny.

Texas

Enjoyed the piano column. It's fun to read how quite ordinary events can be so very funny!

Texas

Elizabeth, you're just like Erma Bombeck, except you're alive!

Just wanted to let you know how much I enjoy your Humor articles. There are a bunch of us at work that you can hear cackle out at something you've said that in one way or another relate to us. Keep them coming.

I read your columns with delight.

Rudies: The cell phone column was funny. I liked the fake awards that you gave out.

Texas

Liked the voicemail article One day somebody is going to go postal due to a voicemail system.

Texas

Love the new column. There's a reason there's an actual reality TV show called "Bridezillas."

Texas

I love this: "Remember, fat never met a thigh it didn't like." How true!!!

I always enjoy reading your columns. Your Father would have liked them too!

I just read the "It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas" column. What a great way to start the month of December. I can definitely identify with the creeping Christmas phenomenon.

Your friend really should get together with drugstore and have the display include diamonds or European vacations so when the husband comes in he can get the gift the wife has planted there.

The problem with giving gifts is it is very hard to have a thing represent the love you actually feel for someone. I always want them to like the gift as much as person can like a gift of limited dollar value.

Keep up the good writing, they are a nice break.

The Art of Gifting Another funny and timely column. I can't believe the guy who asked his ex-wife to pay for his next wedding and honeymoon. So I guess I shouldn't get my wife the Thighmaster for Christmas.

Texas

The Art of Gifting My favorite was Paul's solution. What a hoot! And fun guy! Surely, he put a pair of diamond earrings in her glass of champagne and she was dessert right ? Well, I can dream, can't I?

Texas

This made me laugh: "After prolonged and fruitless cruising in the parking lot, they settle on parking spots located in a zip code other than that of the courthouse."

Oklahoma

Just re-reading your Creatures of Habit column - it is hilarious.

Texas

Got a good laugh out of the column on nosy neighbors!

Texas

Your Peter Pan article made me laugh and... cry. Your article was wonderful, and so true. I have scanned and sent to several family members.

Re: Neighbors: Elizabeth, This column was great. Especially, "buttinski" always wondered how to spell that word. This was also funny to see others have a neighbor from H_ LL also.

Re: The Nuisance of Daylight Saving Time: Excellent commentary. Well thought out, well written!

And this is classic: "While Hubby pumped some black gold into the gas tank, I turned to check on the piano. The upper part of the piano's side was covered in dead bugs. Due to the slant of the windshield, bugs splat and their bodies fall off, leaving only their indelible gunk. Since the piano's side is straight, the bodies remained firmly attached and created an entomological mosaic. It took a lot of scraping and cleaning by both me and our daughter before the piano was allowed in the house."

Oklahoma

"...an entomological mosaic." Absolutely inspired!

"The agony of the feet" was one of your best ever! Thanks for the smiles.
